Work: The Stats and Where I am

Degree: Bachelor Degree in Journalism

Experience: Three internships: one on the Hill and at two major media outlets
One year working as a Lobbyist

Days Since Leaving Job: 117

Number of Jobs Applied to: Countless

Number of Interviews: 1

Job Offers: 0

I quit my job as a lobbyist in May 2009 because lobbying--or for-hire lobbying--is not for me.  I took a risk quitting my job without having another lined up--and proudly (or pathetically), it was the most reckless and bravest thing I have ever done.  In the 117 days that have passed since I walked out of my office, I've cried over being unemployed and cried when I did not get the one position I interviewed for.  I have not, however, cried over leaving my paid position.

PolitiGal is my attempt to keep grace, learn humility, try a few new things, and learn to appreciate the world of unemployment in a time of waiting and uncertainty.  It is a twenty-something girl’s sometimes ugly and true guide to the world.  I created PolitiGal to remember that hard times will get harder; and good times will get better—but a PolitiGal (PG) always tries to have grace, style, love, and to learn a thing or two about politics and life along the way.
